After the Japanese attached on Pearl Harbor in 1941, this commercial passenger DC-3 quickly became the military C-53 Skytrooper, originally used on transatlantic supply routes to England and later transferred to the North African theater. After a long post-war civil career, this C-53 found a decade-long resting-place in Beach City, Ohio, before Jason Capra by chance stumbled upon the aircraft and decided to purchase her. After five years of hard work, the team of Vintage Wings presented their “Beach City Baby” in its historical Air Transport Command color scheme to the public for the first time. Newly added was the nostalgic nose art, named for the town in which the second life of this veteran stared.
