Egypt Government Boeing 747-8 BBJ – SU-EGY
You get 500 bonus points for this order
Originally produced in 2011 for Germany’s Lufthansa, D-ABYE was never taken up by the airline, but instead flown to the Mojave Desert for long-time storage. Ten years later, the aircraft found a new owner in the form of the Egyptian Government which was looking for a replacement for its Airbus A340-200. The aircraft, now registered SU-EGY, was refitted in Hamburg by Lufthansa Technik with special amenities for governmental and presidential use. Egypt joins a number of countries that are using the “Queen of the Skies” for their heads of state, such as Turkey, South Korea, Morocco, Kuwait or Qatar – and also joins a series of aircraft models released by Herpa in the 1/500 scale.
